Ramdas Lamb
Ramdas
Lamb is an Associate Professor of Religion at the University of
Hawai'i. He first came into contact with the Ramnamis while living and
studying in India (1969 to 1978). After returning to his home in
Hawai'i, he continued his academic education, which culminated with a
doctoral degree in Asian Religions from the University of California,
Santa Barbara. Throughout his academic career, the Ramnami Samaj has
been the central focus of his research, and he has returned to India
more than a dozen times to continue his work and study there. In 2002,
the State University of New York Press published his study of the
Samaj, entitled "Rapt in the Name." The text contains the most
comprehensive research ever done on the Samaj, its origins,
development, and present day status.
Amita Talwar
Amita
Talwar is the Editor and Owner of "Channel 6," a monthly magazine
published in Hyderabad, India. She has spent years traveling around
India, learning about the country's many diverse traditions and writing
about many of them. Additionally, she has been involved in various
documentary projects on different facets of India culture and
traditions. Amita first became aware of the Ramnami Samaj through a
short magazine article on the group. Intrigued by the Samaj, she
contacted Ramdas, who facilitated her personal introduction to the
Samaj in January 2002. After that, we found that we shared common
aspirations with respect to the Samaj and the welfare of its members.
Through this, the seeds of our collaboration were sewn.
